Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions has been at the top of his position for the last few seasons now, but there are three legitimate wide receivers who are looking to finally try to take his title as the best in the game. With the Lions getting an improved running game, Johnson might not get quite as many balls thrown his way. So if you want an elite wide receiver on your fantasy football squad, who should you target? These three should have outstanding seasons.
The Bengals are loaded with offensive weapons, but Green is still the best of the bunch. Andy Dalton continues to grow as a quarterback, and his top wide receiver makes it easy for him.
Last season, he finished with 1350 yards for 11 touchdowns. Like Johnson, he is an above average target, which really helps him down in the red zone get touchdowns. As long as the Bengals do not go too tight end happy close to the goal line, Green will have another outstanding season in fantasy football.
If you listen to his rankings, he would have himself at #1. He finished last season with 1382 yards and 12 touchdowns, but the majority of that damage was done in the second half of the season.
After some immaturity early on in his career, it appears as though Bryant is ready to grow up. If he could somehow put an entire season together with the type of numbers he had to end 2012, we could be looking at the best in the game.
The Bears might have fallen on their face last season, but the Jay Cutler-Brandon Marshall connection is still alive and well. He caught 118 passes last season, and he is a model of consistency. Chicago really does not have a ton of other options, and if Cutler can stay on the field, big numbers await Marshall yet again.
